Collection of children after school
At the end of the school day, parents should wait outside classroom/entrance areas to collect your children.
All pupils, with the exception of those in Year 6 (see below), must be collected by a responsible adult who is listed on
their contact form (typically a parent or close family member). We understand that, on occasions, you may
need an alternative adult, such as a friend or another parent, to collect your child. In these circumstances,
please ensure that the person has your child’s designated password, as their class teacher will require this
before releasing them. For safeguarding reasons, staff cannot allow your child to leave with anyone who
is not on the contact form, does not know the password, or is under 16 years of age. If you have
forgotten your child’s password please call into the school office, in person, to request a copy. If your child
attends an after-school childminding club, please provide the school office with the relevant staff details
and collection times to avoid any delays.
*Year 6: To promote independence and a sense of responsibility, Year 6 pupils may walk home unaccompanied at the end of the school day. Written permission from a parent or carer is required before this can be authorised. All pupils in other year groups must be collected from school by a parent or designated adult.
Year 6 pupils granted permission must walk straight home and do so safely and sensibly for this privilege to
remain in place. Any concerns regarding behaviour, safety, or unnecessary delays on the journey home may
result in this permission being withdrawn. Should the school deem a Year 6 pupil unsuitable to walk home
alone, parents will be required to collect them to ensure appropriate supervision.
